Case Studies

Logo for Clariciti, LLC

2021

In the initial discussion I always start with the most basic questions to get an idea of what the client is looking for in the project directly from the client themselves. I knew going in that it was to be a logo for a new company, and that it had something to do with corporate IT. Through discussion, I found out that this was to be a solo venture to start with intent to grow later. I also got a better understanding of this clients' business and how they were planning to work. My main take away from this first meeting was the idea of "putting the pieces together" or helping others to understand how many different technologies can work together to improve their business. This was the main idea in my mind as I began the first sketches.

My initial sketches. The sketch in the top left would go on to become the final logo, relatively unchanged. Sometimes the most elegant design comes easily.

From these sketches I re-created and refined two of what I thought were my strongest designs in illustrator.

When designing logos I always begin in black and white, or at most a grayscale. This helps me to ensure the logo has strong graphic quality and will have visual impact at any size.

After reviewing with the client and explaining my intent with each design, they selected their favorite. In this case they were drawing to the symbolism of the first design, that is, how the lines represented wires, coming together from different origins to create a single idea.

The final step of the process was reviews and small tweaks to finalize the logo, as well as color selection. The client was already leaning towards a shade of blue, so it was simply finding out exactly which shade they preferred.

The final design.
